Nandigram on 70 mmRahul Dholakia to make a film on corporate crime inspired by the land grabbing incident which happened near KolkataKnown to pick up political and social issues and turning them into path breaking films, Rahul Dholakia has chosen corporate crime as the theme for his forthcoming venture. The director is working on the script, which will be inspired by the Nandigram tragedy and will be titled Kanoon.
Our sources informed that the director has been meeting Abhay Chopra, son of Ravi Chopra for the movie. While he denies that his film is completely based on the incident, he admits that there are similarities. It is a courtroom drama set against an issue similar to Nandigram,¯ reveals the director.
Unwilling to give away the storyline, Dholakia says that his film also draws from incidents like Singur aggression and Bhopal Gas Tragedy. People like Anderson (one of the prime accused in Bhopal Gas Tragedy) come and go.People die while the government makes the money! What happens to the people? My film talks about that,¯ he explains.
Ravi Chopra, Rahul says, will produce the film. Ravi was hospitalised and hence the project had gone off track for some time. Now we are reviving that. Hopefully we will soon finalise everything and get into casting,¯ he says admitting that it will be a multi-starrer project.
Rahul who is also working on the script for his film on alcohol prohibition in Gujarat, is busy between the two projects. Apart from these, I am not working on any other project as of now. Though certain filmmakers have been spreading rumours about me doing a film with them, let me clarify, that it™s not so,¯ concludes the filmmaker.
